I enjoy the OTF flash control in the OM-2S and also the distance (automated
manual?) determined flash output of the IS-3, but otherwise will always use
manual control on the flashes. Autoflash can be fooled by so many things I
have never found it a reliable means of lighting as far as my experience is
concerned.

I also purchased a Polaris flash/ambient meter and find mine to be very
accurate. In the store I compared it to two Minoltas (IIIF, IV) and one
other Polaris and every flash test resulted in readings within 1/4 of a
stop, except for when the incident dome was lit from 90 degrees it was 1/2
stop low compared to the Minaltas. I chalk that up to sensor size and
depth. I was prepared to spend multiple hundreds of bucks on the Minoltas,
but found it hard to justify a nearly $200 difference when the only feature
one Minolta had that would have been nice was flash/ambient ratio calculation.

Ambient exposures compared to the Gossen Luna Pro are also dead on (Except
for hard side lighting again), but the Luna Pro is awesome with low light
conditions wheras the Polaris chokes. Nothing your average Nikon F5 has
trouble with though.

After a year I'm still trying to get used to the exposure scale. When it
is a couple notches shy of a full stop is when I get confused the most.
Not the fault of the meter, just my braincells that have been burned out
with too much Infant Induced Insomnia.
