FP is for flash BULBS ONLY and fires them way before the first shutter
curtain opens.  FP closes the switch when the mirror goes up.  By the
time the bulb is igniting, the shutter is open.
Electronic flash uses the X position which fires the switch after the
first curtain is completely open but before the 2nd cyrtain is unlatched
(usually 0.1 to 1.5MS after the first curtain opens).
