Try to beg, borrow or steal (well, maybe not with that crowd!) a 21/2.0 or
18mm and a motordrive. Then focus will almost be a non-issue and you can
get more frames at peak action. Shoot some blurs from a tripod too. Try
some pans.

Perhaps you can set up the other body pre-focused with the 28mm, winder and
a light beam to trip remotely. Take a ladder a head of time and position
the camera with a Bogen Magic Arm from the top of a wall so it's out of the
way and looking down on the action.

I'd use fast, grainy b&W film for the look unless they need color.
