Thanks. the distance is not a problem since these players are 7 & 9 years 
old. I just wanted to fill in some of the harsh shadows from hats and other 
facial shadows but still catch the action at 500+ shutter speeds. Oh well, 
I'll have to wait for those games that go late and  the sun gets low.

Unless you buy an OM4t & an F280 with some kind of telephoto zoom, and
even then the distance may be too much...
