Correct the OM2000 does not take a winder and the controls are
different from
other OM's.
I have to do this from memory because my Dad has my recently acquired OM2000 for
the foreseeable future.
He's considering taking it on a cruise along with his Stylus and leaving his
heavy AE-1 at home.
Starting on the top left: The meter control is built around the rewind knob. It
offers two positions, spot meter and (center weighted?) averaging meter, I sure
there is no "Off" setting. The meter indicator (as seen through the viewfinder)
is LED and is comprised of a "+ O -" indicating overexposure, normal exposure
and underexposure. There is another indicator showing spot meter in use. As I
recall the spot meter is activated by depressing the shutter release half way.
The viewfinder views 930f what your seeing. It has a matted (diagonal?) split
image focusing screen. The screen is bright enough but is non removable. The
film speed dial[?] and shutter speed [B,1s-1/2000th] dial are combined and are
easy to operate. No exposure compensation is available like on my OM2n. The film
advance lever has a little tab on the inside that acts as a shutter lock when
the lever is flush with the body. The lever must be partially pull out before
the shutter will fire. THAT MOST OF ALL is the single most aggravating feature
of this camera, that and no winder and that its made by Cosina. To the right of
the film advance lever is a flat switch used for multi-exposures. Handier than
flipping the rewind knob on the OM's. Oh yeah, the OM2000's rewind button is on
the bottom of the body.
Other features: Mechanical self timer same position as on my OM-1.
A metal shutter arrangement (Like horizontal blinds) Don't know
the formal
name.
As far as I know accepts all Zuiko glass. ;]
Built in flash shoe. (Cant recall if metering is TTL or OTF)
Lightweight. Makes for a nice backup camera.
It takes two 357 batteries for the meter.
Like the OM-1, the OM2000 will keep on working without
batteries. NO lockup.
:)

Lastly as previously advised, put one in your hands before you buy.
