Hi Doris!
Your posting reminded me that I have in my " box of camera stuff I
don't use " a Sunpak Auto 24DX. It sounds like the no frills version of
yours- no bounce, zoom, or swivel, just a plastic wide angle converter. The
flash has a guide # of 80 (feet with ASA 100). The neat thing about Sumpak is
the fact that the hot shoe modules are interchangeable so you can use the
same flash with different camera systems.
Neither the box nor the instructions show a date of printing, so the
only age I can get is from the module itself which states something like:
"fully compatible with OM-2, 2n, and OM-10". So whenever they were the
members of the Olympus line is when the flash dates to. (1979?)
I don't think the flash does OTF, but I may be wrong. While the
instructions brag about being "fully compatible with the camera including
flash synch and electronic compatibility" the instructions cover "Auto"
"Manual" and "Flashmatic" calculations as well as describing a method to do
fill flash. The "Auto" instructions tell you to set the film speed and
F-stop. Nowhere in the instructions does it say "OTF"or "TTL" even though it
keeps bragging that it has full compatibility electronically with the OMs.
It does mention the "sensor eye" that is on the front of the module, so I'm
assuming it only does Auto, not OTF. It does say "for further info see the
instructions that came with the module", and I don't have the module
instructions!
The flash's hot shoe foot has 3 contacts.
