I have the same problem with my T-32.  The problem is not
limited to the T-20; it is where the T-20 or T-32 sits in relation
to the lens.  Olympus did make a flash extender that raises the
flash above the camera a couple of inches (I don't have one, so
someone can comment on whether TTL flash still functions).
This may help with the red eye.  I never have the problem with my
Sunpak dedicated flash, where the flash bulb is raised ~3 inches
above the lens.  But, I like the T-32's output better...
You could also try using a bounce grip or a stroboframe.
