  No. What are you thinking ? Obviously if the material can take 6-foot
drops with a 240lb man aboard a bike frame made of the stuff , it can
probably handle an 8x10. The demo included sections of the tubing,
and they were not only extremely light, but very thin as well.
One of the outstanding qualities of the stuff was its ability to dampen
shocks & vibes. 
Perhaps it's not a viable material for tripods, but, IMHO, it might
well be. 
  Hey, maybe a table tripod made of Scandium ? One could use it 
to bore holes in the ice in Winter...:-)
