For me it works best by first focusing with a tele(zoom)lens on a close
subject, using an OM-1 or OM-2, tripod mounted, then exchanging the camera
with the OM-4 without touching the focusing ring, and adjusting the diopter.
A focusing screen with split image can help to define exact focus. This
operation is easiest with a lens that has its own tripod collar.
