I just tried this combo and, yes, it does vignette slightly. My method is to
stop the aperture down to minimum, attach the hood, open the back, set the
shutter on "B", direct the camera toward a broad source of light, and look
through the very tinest corner of the shutter hole that I can. If it starts
to occlude the light as I look through the corner, I think that vignetting is
occurring. The amount of vignetting on the 24/2.8 with the 28/3.5 metal hood
would probably be masked by the slide mount or printer mask. Using the
28/2.8 rubber hood the vignetting is slightly worse.
I used a Hoya HMC UV filter for this. Without a filter there is no
vignetting at all and I suppose that you could use it this way if it is your
habit to refrain from protective filters, or in an emergency.
Also there is a difference in vignetting when the lens is focused close or
far. There was no vignetting on the 24/2.8 with UV filter with either 28/2.8
or 28/3.5 hood at the close focus range.
