[OM] Odd OM4 behavior

Anyone have a nice easy answer for this problem?

I have a used OM4 that that is exhibiting odd behavior. Metering is accurate
compared to another OM4, and is consistent with the 'sunny 16' rule. If a
picture is taken after a spot metering, the open time for the shutter seems
to be what the viewfinder said it would be.

The problem comes in OTF mode, where the shutter is staying open 10-20 times
as long as the meter says it should. This happens regardless of the lens I
have on the camera. The lens aperture is closing the appropriate amount and
no more. It occurs whether film is in the camera or not. Batteries are fresh
silver oxides.

What gives?
