Hi,

I just followed Hans' and John's recommendations and have now successfully
gotten rid of the play in the mount.

It was pretty easy, I first had to untighten the 3 screws in the mount, then
lift the mount off the rest of the lens. At that point the lens' internals
are already better accessible, but I could access only one more screw (that
was indeed a bit loose), so the play wasn't cured then. In order to continue
I decided to completely lift off the part which has the DOF preview button
pin etc. (the part which consists of black and normal metal). Then I noticed
there were 4 screws which all were really loose, I tightened them and voila,
problem solved. It's a good thing I fixed the lens, as it certainly wouldn't
have taken much longer before one or more of these screws would have fallen
out of their place to disappear somewhere in the lens! The re-assembly went
pretty straightforward (although at one point the DOF preview button fell
out, so I had to do it again), and the whole chore took at most 15 minutes.

I just put the lens on the 4Ti and it seems it works fine again, in other
words: the play is gone, the DOF preview and diafragm coupling works, and
the lens can be mounted and unmounted without difficulties.

I'm glad this time my own repair attempt had a considerably higher success
factor than with the 300/4.5 :)

Thanks for your help, and cheers!
Olafo
