Hi Everyone,

Ok, back up on this one a bit. The OM-88 is a Power Focus, that allows
the use of Auto Focus lens. That was correct. I own an OM-88 and personally
I am really disappointed with the focusing. Harder to adjust to the a fully
manual camera, and I too got it thinking my wife would like it. WRONG!
It is HEAVY!, Not light like a the other OMs or like a lot of the currect
AF models.
If I had to choose again I WOULD however choose an OM77, which I love to
death. I am unsure if I just happen to really love my OM-77's and I am nuts
as well
as a fairly new photographer, or if the opinion of the others is based on
something
I dont know about. But I have (2) OM-77's, an OM-88, a OM-10, OM-PC, and
OM-G.
While none of these are in the class of the OM-1,2,4 series, they all work
well. The 88
is my least favorite, and the 77's my most. The reasoning behind getting my
88 was to
inchange lens with the 77, and thinking power focus would be easier for her
then
completely manual... not the case. It makes a fine little backup, or a
rough-house
camera, but I do not think you will like the thumbwheel focus at all. Fast
focus shots are
nearly impossible... and without the manual adaptor, you cant be creative
with it at all.
Look around and get a 77 if you have to have autofocus, or get a X2A if you
want
to go Point and shoot. I like the IS series cameras as well, but I think
they are a bit
over priced used still. Avoid the 88 if you can help it.
