[OM] Will this work?

I'd like to run a two camera setup for an upcoming shoot, and had an
idea about how to do it, but now i'm wondering if it will work at
all.

It's a studio shoot, so I'll be running strobes. I thought I would
set one body on a tripod, with a winder 2 on continous (side
note--why does this only work on continuous?) and a slave sent to the
mini-pin input on the winder. The body that I'm handholding would
have an IR strobe. When I release the shutter of the handheld, it
triggers the main strobe, which triggers the slaved body.

Then I started worrying. The flash is at longest 1/250 second (and
may be quite a bit shorter depending on setting). When the strobe
triggers the second body and its shutter opens, the strobe light is
extinguished.

Then I thought I would get clever and use a strobe on the main body
that would trigger directly the slave on the second body. My theory
was that would open the second shutter at the same time the main
strobe would fire. Then I started worrying about that too. Since
light moves much faster than mechanics, I think this too will yield
black pictures, since the shutter will still open too late.

Am I right? Is there a way to do this simply?

thanks....

matt
