Excellent thinking! 
Just use the manual Oly 7mm or 14mm and you have the same control over the
aperture as when using the shift. That way, one wouldn't have to risk an
expensive lens and one could simply stick with a 50/1.8 or 35/2.8 if so
desired...

I like it... Anyone wanna buy a 50/3.5 macro? ;) (just kidding about the
50/3.5)
