Question: I want to take a photo with a camera/flash to subject distance
closer than that minimum on the T32 calc panel per ASA setting. With the
50/1.8MC, the min aperture is f:16; with the 1.4MC, I can get f:22. Of
course, I can put a PL filter and get another stop less light or put a
plastic diffuser in front of the flash.
For ASA400, the min distance is ~9'@f:22. If I want to photo something at
5', will the subject be grossly overexposed or will the O-sensor cut light
appropriately? What if I get closer? In short, do I need to take measures
to reduce light for working distances closer than the calc panel minimum?
BTW, I, for the first time, made a gross error by not taking backlight
into account for people shots outdoors. Ugh. And these were portraits too,
so there was very little bright light around the head/shoulders. Oh well,
got roughly a 10-15% keeper ratio. Live and learn.
