Hi

Yes, the camera works like Hans wrote.

When you are using memo in average metering mode you should pull the memo lever,
compose, shoot and the camera will meter the exposure OTF. Then every other
exposure you make will be as long as your first one untill you clear the memory.

note: When you are composing the bar in the viewfinder is for example at exactly
1/60s. This exposure time is determined dynamically through the mirror, as in
many other cameras. Then you press the shutter release and the OTF meternig
starts. Under certain circumstances (linear polarising filter, ...) the shutter
can be open 1/30s or 1/60s+2/3 or almost any other exposure time (of course in
normal conditions the diference is max 1/3 or perhaps 2/3 stops).

So when you would use the memo function the latter exposure time will be stored
in memory. This is the expected behaviour because the OTF metering is more
correct than normal metering through the mirror.

In spot metering mode the exposure time is determined through the mirror when
you press the spot button and not OTF at exposure time (don't use a linear
polarizer when spot metering).

But I can't think of a reason why one would want to use memory function with
average metering mode. Memory function is IMHO intended for situations where you
want to bracket or make several pictures in sequence in difficult lighting
conditions. And in difficult lighting conditions one would usually use spot
metering.

This are the conditions for which the spot metering was designed :-).

The steps are:

1. Look at a spot, which you want to appear correctly exposed
2. Press the Spot button
3. Turn the compensation dial if compensations are necessary
4. Compose
5. Shoot

Hope this helps.

My errors will soon be corrected by other list members :-)
