I happened to know that Tomoko Yamamoto is off list at the moment and wrote
her about Denton's request for photography books/portfolios by Japanese
photographers of all flavors, OM preferred. She sent the following response.

It so happened that I bought a couple of photography books in March, but the
books as well as three photography magazines were lost in shipment (perhaps
someone was collecting Japanese photo books and magazines?), and I am waiting
for a word from the bookstore in Tokyo where I made a purchase regarding
reshipment. When they arrive, I can post comments on the ones I bought. The
two titles were part of many photography books by one publisher (I don't even
remember the publisher's name nor the photographers' names)

Since Denton lives in New York, he might be interested in visiting a Japanese
bookstore there. The name is Kinokuniya Bookstores, located at 10 West 49th
Street.

I also received today from Kinokuniya my first issue of "Asahi Camera" a
photography magazine in my 6-month subscription. They have a monthly
introduction of photography books particularly by self-publishing amateur
photographers. If Denton can indicate specific types of Japanese
photography he
is interested in getting, I can identify some books for him from the reviews.

BYW, the August 99 issue I received today does include a portfolio by Sumio
Harada on the wildlife in the Canadian Rockies. He used the OM-1 and the
OM-2SP
with the Zuiko 35mm/2.8, 300mm/4.5, and the TamronSP 90mm/2.5. He also
used the
Canon T-90 with the FD500/4.5L. His films were KR64 and Provia.
