Hi,

Yes, the 4Ti's metering system is (almost?) unmatched by any other camera
out there.

Well, maybe I can do that for you. I myself transitioned from being a
student to an employee slightly over a year ago. Until that transition I
just used my good 'ole OM-40 with the 50/1.8, 28/3.5 and 135/2.8 (the latter
two lenses belong to my father); check the "gear" section on my photo
gallery (http://members.xoom.com/olaf_greve) to see what my current set-up
looks like now. Out of all these new acquisitions I have to say that there
are four things I wouldn't want to do without anymore, and these are:
OM-4Ti ---> Such a joy to use, my poor 'ole OM-40 is now "enjoying"
retirement and is only used as a second camera on special trips.
35-70/4 ---> Versatile, light and sharp
65-200/4 ---> Versatile, nice telephoto range, and razor sharp
F280 ---> Nice flash

So, as you can see, one of these items is the 4Ti itself, and another one is
the F280 flash. Ah yes, when I say "I wouldn't want to do without", I really
mean just that. A while ago I wanted to take pictures with my OM-40 (which
I've been using as of 1986-1999 (April) ), and I kept looking for that SPOT
button. I have little experience with flashes, but the F280 is a joy to use
(I'm sure the same holds true for the T-series flashes), and I have very few
bad exposures with it. Really, you can't beat the SPOT feature, it's
excellent. If cost is really an issue consider a used OM-4. If you monitor
OM-4(T(i)) auctions on eBay you'll see that at times you can get some good
deals. Especially "package deals" (i.e. a body plus some Zuiko glass) tend
to come out very favourable. For second handed OM-4(T(i))s on eBay you
should expect to have to pay something like:
OM-4 ---> $150 - $300
OM-4T(i) ---> $350 - $550

Of course prices depend on condition and seller's feedback profile(!), but I
would say these ranges are pretty accurate (although I haven't monitored the
OM-4 auctions a lot, and the low ends of both ranges are probably the rock
bottom prices you can find them at).

I myself monitored eBay for about half a year, contemplating whether to buy
a 4Ti or not, and then a very good used one was offered via this list, so I
finally decided to buy it and I haven't had a single regret yet.

Cheers!
Olafo

Funny, that's what most Canadians I have met tell me, until you
(accidentally) call them Americans ;)))
Oh well, that's almost always the case with neighbouring countries :)
