Dear Elmer,

U wrote ....

Yes, Its a good choice ! I actually bought mine just out of school with my
first 3 months worth of salary... That was way back in 1987..... I actually
studied all the major brands before deciding... I took 6 months .. cos I
just had to convince myself.... and also - no money..... The only reason why
I bought it was because of the metering system.. No other camera could
provide such accurate and sophisticated gainst metering at that time....
Furthermore, its 4 minute auto metering was really impressive... I took it
on a tropical holiday and took a beautiful slide of a beach scene with
lamposts and coconut trees against a backdrop of a deep blue sky.. The sun
had already set for some time & I suffered bad sandfly bites whilst I waited
for the about 3 minute exposure. The result was impressive. No camera till
today can do that on auto mode.! ( Am I right guys ?) Of course I had to
bracket ( only once cos the sandflies were really something) to account for
reciprocity failure.

Y Maitani is really brilliant in coming up with the OM-4 Ti design.... If U
study & reflect on OM 's history, U will see that they are somewhat very
innovative and pioneering in their designs and ideas as U trace the
milestone models they produced.... (one modern day 'milestone' is their
Mju..... so successful )

I also read yesterday that Maitani is also a Leica fan..... could this be
the reason why the shutter release is also so unique and buttery smooth on
the OM-4 ?

Till today, no camera can take up to 8 spot readings... (some may argue U
would only need 3 or at the most - 5...) I find this very helpful cos I
employ the zone system technique when I come across difficult lighting
conditions. It sort of reduces the amount of guesswork thru the common
technique of bracketing.... so i just look out for 18 0ray parts and spot
off.....

the memory feature is also very useful when U have to take a succession of
pics without suffering different exposures.....

and again the highlite and shadow feature is also very accurate.

Just imagine , with these dead accurate features at your fingertips, its
really a very fast tool.....

To be objective, this is the strength of the OM-4Ti.... No other camera
comes close.

Try to buy an OM-4Ti cos the F280 is a real strength... The OM-4 is risky
cos it has a leaky battery circuit (documented).

sorry for such a long message... all in all.. get the OM-4Ti for its
metering ... nothing else..... cos the other makes are better in the other
aspects.

happy hunting...
