Joel,
You've got the point: the reason of my disappointment was significant yellow
cast especially in late evening light. Everybody looked like seriously sick
(I don't know the name of that yellow-skin illness). I found E100VS great
for cloudy day shots but pictures shoot around noon and evening hours were
less pleasant as those shot on Velvia.
Grain - OK, I'm exaggerating a bit, it's not so bad. I develop my slides in
an authorized Kodak lab. Every other films are all right, so I don't assume
something went wrong this time.
I stand by the opinion that vivid reds and crazy greens are too vivid and
too crazy combined with harsh mid-day light.
I'm of course aware of the fact that discussing one slide superiority over
another is a kind of holly war (at least comparing Kodak & Fuji - both are
of best quality) and should be forbidden on the list ;-)

Best regards,
Artur

Hmmm. This puzzles me. The E100VS delivered to me from Kodak processing
has been no more poster-like than Velvia, rather more subdued in fact, like
Velvia's sweet cousin, Provia. If anything, the E100VS seemed slightly
more neutral even than Provia. "Grainy" is not a word I would associate
with any one of these films. How was your film processed?

One thing I have noticed with both E100VS and Provia is that the first
light of dawn can come out overpoweringly yellow. This used to be the
greatest light for Kodachrome, which would then seem blah at other,
"normal" times of the day. I'm going to experiment with a blue correction
filter to see if this improves the color balance.
