Not so dumb, because the answer is "sort of."

The F280 will fit into the Power Bounce Grip 2 flash well.  The F280 even has a
molded well so that it can fit on the grip power connector - but, strangely, 
there
are no contacts in the F280.  Thus, it cannot be powered by the grip C-cells.  
The
Grip shoe, of course, is missing the two additional contacts required for Super 
FP
mode, so using the normal grip circuitry and cords, you cannot use that mode.  
You
are then limited to normal TTL and manual modes.  I just verified that those 
work on
my gear.  I presume that if you use the special TTL Auto Cord F 0.6 m to 
connect the
camera hot shoe to the socket in the flash, you could use Super FP mode.
Unfortunately, I don't have this cord and can't verify this.

Even without the special cord and knowing that the batteries in the grip don't 
help,
there may be some justification for using this rig, since it increases the 
flash to
lens distance and may reduce redeye.  It also looks cool.
