I think that there was a thread, somewhat before your time here, about
Olympus sending out snake, (non-environmentally protected) alligator or even
maybe the real thing back in the 70's, and lizard for commenorative purposes.
Herbert Keppler of Popular Photo has a collection of these odd-skinned OM
camera and there have been magazine articles about this.
I need to replace the skin on one of my OM 1s and am looking for some thin
leather. I was waiting for my wife to wear out a purse but this will never
happen because she's always buying new ones. I hear that Tandy Leather can
special order thin leather for you. Most people recommend simple contact
cement to attach the skin. If I'm going to go to a lot of work, I think I'll
go for something exotic.
