At a garage sale (where else?) last week, I picked up a big, coffee
table book titled "Flower Show" for less than the cost of a single issue
of Pop Photo. It was in its protective jacket, and looks nearly perfect.
The photographs were by Dennis Stock of Magnum. In the back of the book
there is a catalogue of the equipment & tech notes used in each picture.
All were taken with OMs. One of the neater "tricks" Stock uses is
doing macros with the 500/8 reflex and an extension tube. He remarks:

" While searching for flowers these many years, I have had the
consideration of equipping myself with cameras and lens that satisfy
a variety of needs. When discovering a detail or a distant image, a broad
system of sharp lens was essential and light cameras to ease the burden
of traveling. For nearly fifteen years the Olympus cameras and Zuiko
lenses have served me well. Through these years as I exchanged OM-1 for
OM-2 and presently for the fine standards of the OM-3 and OM-4,
satisfaction remained intact.
With ususally two cameras hanging from my neck, I walk through the
fields and gardens, seeking the right perspective. My senses are fine-
tuned, and the technical support systems are ready to facilitate my
observations. Via the camera, I enjoy life a great deal."

The book was published in 1986, and is full of excellent flower
and garden imagery, much of it being close-up/macro work. He seems
to have done most of the work with 18/3.5, 35, 50 macro, 70-150,
300 and 500 millimeter lenses.
