I have had the same problems with an OM-3, and Olympus said the camera
was beyond repair - probably a euphemism for 'lack of parts' although
I didn't realize at that time. 
But the manual meter is a good option indeed: I sold the camera for
$250 (not through eBay!!!) together with a Lunsasix 3....
