It really is not very difficult to get these
diaphragms working well again,in my experience. After
doing it once, the second one took well under 30
minutes. Of course, these things are so cheap, you
have to think about whether it is worth your time. If
you get them free, I would think it worth it!

Usually the problem is oil that has migrated into the
aperture mechanism. All you need to do is remove
enough of the rear mechanicals, and the rear element,
to be able to direct spray degreaser onto the bases of
the blades. If you keep the aperture stopped down when
you spray, and keep the lens tilted so degreaser runs
out the back, then its not too hard to keep this stuff
off the front elements. Working the aperture after
spraying, and repeating a few times as you rotate the
lens, seems to do the trick for me.

Anyway, its kind of fun to do, and if you screw up,
you're not out much money.
