If your 4Ti locks up due to failing batteires and not mechanical , then the
reset button should drop the mirror back down.

As far as other scenario's you can always come up with a hypothetical on why
you should or shouldn't carry one or more batteries or camera bodies.
Anything about anything can be argued.

Preparation is the key.  Usually the team that is the most prepared
generally wins.  It lessen's the unforseen.  That is why most commercial
jets have two of everything , in the event one fails.  Is it fail proof ?
of course not.
But I guess you can get the jest of it.

Airliners also have no go items.  Which means the aircraft does not go
regardless until that item is fixed or repaired.  In photography there are
no go items also.  You never want to go somewhere w/o film.  Without it your
stuck.
