Thank you for the clarification.  This is very similar to an early
assignment we had in photo school.  My completed work was a silhouette taken
of my spouse in profile.  It was shot at night and severely over exposed by
a single off-camera flash.  The effect was a white form on a totally black
background as a straight print.  In printing, I underexposed the paper at
high contrast through some nylon hose material to diffuse the edges.  Then
burned in a small area around the eye, barely enough to seperate that
feature from the remainder of the face, and burned the background to pure
black.  Aced the assignment and the print eventually found its way into my
portfolio.

It's a fun assignment, enjoy :)
