[OM] om-4 disaster?

Subject: [OM] om-4 disaster?

Well after looking at all the feedback I decided to buy an om-4 instead
of the 4t. i got back from the camera fair with a near mint om-4 and a
winder-1 for a bit over 400 canadian. I checked the camera at the fair
and it worked perfectly in all modes. When I finally got it home I
attached my t20 flash but found that the camera did not realize it was
mounted (no presync at 60 or red light in viewfinder). The flash would
not fire in auto mode but would work in manual mode. I then attached a
secondary flash through a sync cord and left the t20 on the shoe- they
both would not fire. after cleaning all contacts and reattaching the
t20 the camera synced to 60 and the red indicator light was present in
the viewfinder.
Now here is where it gets weird. After removing the flash I found that
the otf metering would no longer work. In auto mode the shutter doesn't
sync up to the indicated reading on the lcd. If you were to spot meter
in auto then the shutter does sync at the indicated time but, if for
example the sutter speed is very slow, the shutter will not release when
the camera is pointed into direct light or if the apperature is opened
right up.
What happened??? Am I scre*ed? the fair is over and the dealer is
already on his way back home to Edminton!
Could it be that I have the wrong batteries in the camera, I was given 2
duracell a76 button style batteries.
Any help would be appreciated.
