Actually on the OM-4 (and OM-2S, OM-PC, and OM-3) the shutter curtain is 
*not* used in manual mode (or in the spot mode). In manual or spot the 
reading is taken off of the sub-mirror. Metering occurs off the curtain, then 
off the film, during exposure. The slower the shutter speed the more of the 
reading that is taken off of the film. For high shutter speeds reflectance 
off the film is negligible.
