You're not going to like where they put you.  The public viewing areas
are a *long* way from the pad.

A sophisticated technique known as "wild-ass guess".  

I recall there were some long threads on shuttle launch photography on
the photo.net Q&A (http://photo.net/photo) and on Usenet (try
http://deja.com/, if you can stand the ads flashing in yer gob).
