I use the Polaroid Sprintscan 4000, which seems to do a really nice job.  The
software that comes with it is adequate but not brilliant, but for the most
part you can stick everything on "auto" and let 'er rip.  I've heard rumours of
an "8000" model, which would definitely push this scanner into the drum scanner
competition category.  If they could increase the scanner's optical denisty
range from 3.4 to 4.0, it'd kick some serious butt.  As it is, it already
produces the most impressive output I've ever seen from a scanner.
