Anytime you use a teleconverter you'll lose picture quality unless the
teleconverter is achromatically matched to that lens.  Some experts claim
you lose a little sharpness , regardless.

I believe you can make anything work to you advantage if your know your
limits and your equipment.

If your starting out go with a good OM-4 and buy an Olympus 65-200 zoom or
the 85-250 lens.  It all depends on what you want to do.  The more you want
to achieve the higher the cost.

 The Olympus 35-80 f2.8 lens is an outstanding zoom with LD Glass, but
costly. Images are great with this lens.

If you want sharpness stay with a fixed telephoto.
