Thanks to all for your suggestions & offers of help. I ended up
downloading the file from the Japanese Olympus site -- note that if you
attempt to install this under NT or Win 2000, the software a) appears to be
in Japanese, and b) doesn't work. Win 95 & 98 only.

You could try polishing the scratches using car or metal polish. I have
had reat
results polishing out scratches that cuase plain CDs to skip. SOmetimes
have to
have a go at them with 1200 wet & dry paper followed by 2000 grade then
polish.
