I echo your advice Garth.  I've said it before, "Garbage in garbage out."
If you work with the best possible image you can (grearter number of pixels)
the higher the quality of the image.  That's why I chose to reject the ES-10
and go with the Nikon LS-30.  It'll give me more pixels to work with.  The
optimized and reduced web image will have been derived from a higher quality
scan.
