No one ever really knows. If you find an OM-2S and it works, I would assume
from that that it will continue to work.  They seem to me to be rugged and
reliable with a simple-to-use but extremely ingenious interface.  It is my
favorite OM.

You have to carry your own SR44 batteries to be certain.  They probably had
a lithium in it.  I was choosing between an OM-2 and OM-2S several years
ago. I really wanted the OM-2 at the time because it was so much more like
my OM-1.  I bought the OM-2S because the shutter didn't lock up on the
lithium batteries they used to power everything on display.  By the time I
got it home, the OM-2S also locked up, but fortunately by then I'd also
discovered the FAQ and got the proper batteries for it.  Happily ever after.
