IIRC it will be MC if it shows a green reflection, *regardless* of what is
written on the front.

Exactly. I will add that there are times when MC will not prevent flare.
I was shooting into the sun recently, and my SC 24/2.8 showed marginally
more flare than the MC 35-70 3.5-4.5. The greater number of elements in
the zoom meant I had more ghost images, and a circular bright spot
(refraction) from the edge of the element/diaphragm/whatever appear in the
frame. The MC 100/2.8 also had a flare 'blob'.

Surely filters add flare, even when they are MC - they provide two
additional air/glass surfaces.

What I'm trying to say is that multicoating is not a panacea, but it can
help reduce flare to some extent. I suspect that the benefits may be
exaggerated.
