Actually, Denton, on the rig I use, the time penalty is almost nil.  On the 
other hand, I have tried scanning at the final target resolution, and while I 
have occasionally come up with really nice scans (and certainly used 'em, when 
I got that lucky), most of the time I was hooped, and had to re-scan at a 
higher resolution anyways.

But if it works for you, for whatever reason, go for it.  8^>
