Hi Barry;

I would go for the OM4t and 283, a difficult combination to beat for BB in 
poorly lit gyms. A 285
would be a slightly better choice if you can find one.  In 15 years of small 
newspaper
photojournalism, this combination (camera of choice and Vivitar 283/285) never 
failed me.

If you are shooting from under the basket, a combination that worked for me was:
Rolleiflex or other TLR and 285 set on wide angle or with a broad diffuser to 
soften the light and
not distract the players too much.
