[OM] OM4T self timer and maximum time exposure question

Hello Olympians.

It has been very very long I havent been on the list!
I have had my OM's since the early 80's.

However, I have never used the self timer on the OM4T.
Now, I am trying to use it, but I cant figure it out. The example in the manual
is terrible.
Do I pull the 'thingy' out and to the left (as I am facing the camera) or is it
push down?
I am afraid I will break it if I use too much pressure. it seems to only move
slightly and when i did that, the self timer wasnt engaged.

My next question.

The OM4T is supposed to have a max exposure of 240 seconds.
Every time i try to take a photo that is very low light on a tripod, the camera
seems to get stuck forever (even for 10 minutes and more) until i give up and
engage the mechanical release button to bring the camera back to life. (unless
the exposure is in the range of say about 10-20 seconds).
battery check shows all is ok.

Any hints?

Thanks!

Alexander
