Here is my one experience with the then-Olympus Factory shop in Dallas: in 1980
I dropped my 28/3.5. Hit a rock, then bounded down an Arizona canyonside a
ways. Glass was clean, but the aperture ring was very stiff - almost
unmovable. Arriving home, I took it to Olympus-Dallas (as I recall, same site
now occupied by Photosphere, so John's story fits). A kindly gentleman who was
a dead ringer for Noriyuki "Pat" Morita ("Karate Kid") took my lens, disappeared
in back for 3 minutes, and returned with my lens, apparently as good as new.
Worked that way until I traded it off to Olympus Guy a couple of years ago. No
charge.
