I thought that the original problem with Kodachrome was cyanide pollution
not silver. I was under the impression that they had figured out how to get
the sliver recovered after all it is fairly valuable.
As an aside or a short period of time I worked at a one-hour lab one of the
first in Riverside. One of the government agencies required us to have a
spot to put a probe to measure the heavy metal output of the machines in the
sewer system. Another agency had a rule that there could be no opening in
that system. It tookover two weeks for they to agree that the opening had to
be there and I think the only reason they decided that was it was a federal
agency that wanted the opening and a local one that did not.
