now that we have greedily searched, bargained, hunted down, lucked into, and
otherwise paid dearly for all these wondrous goodies, I wonder..

do any of you (that are not Pros) display them in any way??

Not yet, but I have plans.

But what does "Pros" have to do with it? Can I answer if photography is my primary means of support, or are you prejudiced against the poor? :-)

Actually let the
public eye get a peek at them??

If "public" means "close friends and relatives," yes. I'm not planning to run tour busses through. I also point out (ESPECIALLY to relatives :-) that I have a central alarm system.

If so..how?? where??

Ikea makes a nice, inexpensive bookcase called the "Billy." They also sell glass doors and glass shelves for them. I got a couple in the kitchen, and put halogen under-counter lights inside, and it really makes ordinary kitchen stuff -- jars of pasta and crackers, earthenware, etc. -- really look great.

I'm planning to do that for my camera gear. Total cost should be under $200, as I recall. It will go in the hallway just outside the studio/office. The only problem is that I have to remodel the hall before I go putting things in there that I'm not going to want to move -- and THAT'S a whole 'nother project.

So the glass doors and shelves will make everything easy to locate, and the doors will keep most of the dust out, and the halogens (only 4 each 10 watt bulbs) should help keep it dry in there. Sound like a plan?

sometimes I... grieve that they are so
completely hidden away...

Well, I don't necessarily want to show them off; I just want to be able to quickly access something I need! Right now, things live in three LowePro bags and a couple commandeered dresser drawers, and I never know where something is when I need it.

will divorce certainly follow if one tried to
add them to the decor??

Been there, done that. Find someone who shares your affliction. :-)
