I used to own the Sigma 400/5.6 IF (non-APO and non-macro)and found it to be a
decent lens. However it was about identical to my Zuiko 300/4.5 with 1.4X so I
sold it. On the other hand the Sigma did have more contrast than my Zuiko combo.
Gary Reese has tested a 400mm Novoflex but I don't know if it the same model
that you saw. I think that there were two versions of at least the lens body.
I don't know if the optical formulas changed between the two versions though.
