|Well,
|
|I would say that E100VS has much larger grain than velvia has..
|Actually it can be seen even with a 4x-5.5x lupe. It is saturated but
|the sharpness isnt too good. Some insect shots I did with zuiko 80mm
|f4 macro, were a bit soft compared to Velvia. It renders gray pretty
|naturally and is usable with larger format equipment. Its also
|cheaper than Velvia, but when I really want use 100 speed films I buy
|Provia100F or E100S.

The RMS granularity index for velvia is 9; E100VS is 11; Provia 100F
is the new standard for slides at 8.

As far as contrast is concerned, Velvia has a low contrast index (@
1.6:1 contrast ratio) of 80 lines/mm and a high contrast index (@
1000:1) of 160 lines/mm. Provia 100F, like Provia 100, has a low
index of 60 and a high of 140. The low/high figures for Fuji Astia
are 55/135. These numbers are taken from fujifilm.com and kodak.com .

Kodak.com does NOT list corresponding data for E100VS as yet.
