Barry,
I have had a little, not much, experience with this kind of problem. It
doesn't have to be
overcast. Solid open shade, as in the shady side of a building worked fine for
me. Or, maybe
window light filtered by sheers. Personally, I wouldn't expect a flash to
reproduce this kind of
light. I'm sure you'll get other responses, ones that I might not even be able
to perform, but
that is a simple solution and the one I'd try first.
