Hi guys,
Now that ADITL3 is through and it has once more been a great success, the
time is near for the first of the themed non-ADITL events.
Several weeks ago, the following schedule for ADITL and other themed events
was agreed on by the list (that is, I didn't get any complaints ;) ):
> February 21st 2000: Self portraits
> April 21st 2000: Night pictures
> June 21st 2000: ADITL4 (anything goes, no theme)
> August 21st 2000: Bokeh
> October 21st 2000: Abstract
> December 21st 2000: ADITL5 (anything goes, no theme)
> February 21st 2001: Portraits
> Further dates to be determined later.
Now, some people have asked me if the shooting intervals could be set to
several weeks for the ADITL events. I think we should leave ADITL shooting
ranges tight though (otherwise the whole basic idea gets lost), however, for
the other themed events the shooting dates can be relaxed much more. I think
a 3-week shooting interval should be sufficient, right?
Then, I propose to set the actual shooting dates for the first themed event
to: February 14th - March 6th. This event will be the "Self-portrait" event.
No lens restrictions imposed. The only caveat from my side is that the 18th
of February will be my last working day with CTP, and I will start a new job
at Lucent on March 1st. This change of jobs will also involve moving to a
different part of the country, and as such I'm not certain when exactly I
can start receiving/processing submissions. Either way, I'll try to sort out
something, and I will keep you posted on the logistics.
Title-wise, I so far have only come up with something cheesy like "Olympus
List Themed Events" or slightly better "Zuikoholics Anonymous Shoot Themes",
or something like that. Any suggestions for a more flashy name?
Finally regarding the hosting of ADITL and the new events, George and I will
work out matters between the two of us. ADITL is George's brainchild, and
the themed events are more or less the idea of your's truly (after really
appreciating the ADITL2 50mm lens restriction, that is). Therefore, it may
be best if we host the events accordingly, but as stated above, George and I
will work that out...
