There was also a 70-210 f/3.5 Angenieux.

I have a photocopy of the 35-70mm f/2.5~3.3 test from Popular
Photography. In brief, it's 11 element design favors center performance
over edge. It has rather high flare: 1.4 to 1.7%. Centering was slightly
off in the test sample; there was measurable vignetting until f/5.6; it
had "noticable barrel" distortion at 35mm, "slight barrel" at 50mm, none
at 70mm. The reviewer mentioned lots of drag in the zoom action, due to
some costly and questionable construction choices. I'd say that it takes
stopping down a full stop to get pro level performance with this lens.

There isn't a Zuiko test to compare to, but I do have a 35-70mm f/3.4
Zeiss Vario Sonnar test. It's a more even performer, albeit not as good
in the center. Better control of distortion; perfect centering; lower
flare, useful wide open.

Nice ad copy on eBay. It makes one what to have it . . .
