   IMO, no. What makes glass "best" ?

  What is the: Best car ? Best shoes ? Best restaurant ?
               Best mailing list ? Best film ? Best ice cream ?
               Best cable TV channel ? Best Bicycle ? Best breed
               of dog or cat ? Best wine ? Oh, yeah, best SUV ?

  It's not heresy (maybe absolute-ism ?). Every camera/lens/film
combination has a certain flavor or total quality (gestalt ?),
which may or may not synergize with your vision, working style,
and a range of situations. When you does hit upon one that works,
the effect on one's image-making is significant.
  For some of us, it may take a 200/1.8 Canon. For Edward Weston
it was a cheap lens he bought at a Mexican market...
