=================
I do not read this statement that way at all. The "opposite is not true"
part tells me that if a Professional camera does not have a MLU then it does
not need one.

7. Use the mirror pre-release feature, if
your camera has it (Every camera that has
it, needs it. The opposite is not true!
====================================

it is probably a bit pointless to second guess what zeiss really
means, but the converse of that statement would be if your
camera needs MLU then it has it, and the claim that this is
not true says that *some* cameras without MLU need it. this
is in fact a weaker claim that my suggestion that zeiss is saying
their cameras lacking MLU is problematic in that it isn't
claiming that *all* cameras without MLU need it. but I don't
see where there is any mention of Professional cameras there
in any case.

my own position is that Contax and Nikon deliberately leave pre-release
off of their advanced amateur bodies to encourage pros to buy only
their top of the line bodies. Nikon made the compact series of
manual focus cameras for amateurs and didn't expect pros to
use cameras like the FE2, but it was highly popular among both
professional and advanced amateurs alike. Nikon made sure
this didn't happen with their autofocus line by leaving features
like MLU off of the N90 and F-100.

Contax did include MLU on the S2 AFAIK, but they really should have
included it on their mid-range bodies.

If I were purchasing a 35mm SLR brand new right now, I'd say that
the best values on the market today are: Nikon FM2N, Pentax PZ-1P,
and Canon EOS A2/A2e. All of these have mirror pre-release and
fast flash sync. Of these, the Pentax one is the most full featured,
having a spotmeter, 1/250 X sync, mirror prefire, and TTL flash AE.
